ANIMAL LOVERS MUST READ!!! How Your Rights to Own Animals is in Danger! If you own or breed pets and consider yourself an animal lover, you probably believe animals have certain rights: They deserve a good home; They have the right to be fed, watered, and kept in good health; They have the right to be protected from those who would cause them harm by abuse or neglect. You may watch Animal Planet and have seen shows like Animal Cops that show how local SPCA groups work to save pets and other animals from bad owners and place them in new responsible, loving homes. As pet owners and animal lovers, we understand all the Earth's creatures should have certain rights. Many of us even consider our pets more than just a dog or a cat, but actual as part of our family. We spoil them with treats, toys & beds, attention, and love. Some of our pets even eat better than we do!
Did you know... In the world today certain animal rights groups and activists take animal welfare to a whole other level. There are animal rights extremists who believe that animals have equal or greater rights than humans. They believe eating meat is animal cruelty, and everyone should be a vegetarian. They are fighting to make it illegal to use animals in Rodeos, Circus, and even illegal to keep them in Zoos! They believe that all animals should be released from human ownership and allowed to live free, and even that humans should take a back seat to animals because we are too controlling and have ruined the Earth for the animals. Who are these extreme animal rights activists? PETA for one. You may have heard of them. They describe themselves as animal lovers, and receive millions of dollars each year in donations--mostly from people who believe their money goes to saving pets in shelters and finding them new homes. What PETA actually does with a majority of the money is work to pass laws that make it more difficult for people to own animals and even breed them. PETA is actually responsible for putting more healthy dogs and cats to sleep than nearly any shelter in the US. These are not unacceptable animals either, they are very adoptable, but PETA puts them down anyway. As an animal lover, you probably agree that spaying and neutering your pets is a great thing--and it is. Spaying and neutering helps control the pet population and keeps the numbers of homeless pets down. However, animal rights groups like PETA are fighting to make spaying and neutering mandatory. This is a bad thing if you want to see pets around in future years. When ALL animals are required to be spayed and neutered, the end result is no new pets. No puppies, no kittens, etc. Mandatory spay/neuter is NOT the answer to the overpopulation of homeless pets. Education about responsible pet ownership is. Enforcing current animal crulety law is, but making it illegal to own pets is absolutely absurd to say the least. At this point, you're probably thinking this all sounds a little crazy and unreal, right? This can't really be happening. THINK AGAIN. It IS real, and it IS happening. All over the country laws are being passed that are making spaying and neutering of dogs and cats mandatory in certain towns & counties.Yours could be next. Breeders, not just the bad ones like puppy mills, but responsible breeders too, are being shut down all over the country by being forced to comply with these new laws. Some licensed breeders who have been producing healthy, sound pups and placing them in loving homes for more than 20 years without a single blemish on their record have been forced to give up most of their dogs, which they consider part of their family, and spay and neuter those they keep. You may even know someone who's had this unfortunate experience, and if you don't yet, you may very soon.
Some of the most incriminating evidence against PETA & other extremist groups are their own words...
"We have no problem with the extinction of domestic animals." - Wayne Pacelle, Senior Vice-President of HSUS, formerly of Friends for Animals; Quoted in Animal People, May, 1993 "The life of an ant and the life of my child should be accorded equal respect." -- Michael W. Fox, Vice President, The Humane Society (The Associated Press, Jan. 15, 1989). "Human beings, as a species, have no more value than slugs." -- John Davis, editor of Earth First! Journal
